LAC Federal is seeking an Archivist to provide archival processing and reference services for a federal archival program in Washington, D.C. The Archivist will serve a Program Manager overseeing a team consisting of an Archivist and Scanning Technicians and report the agency Historian to plan and coordinate work. The Archivist will use professional judgment in arranging, describing, and preserving historical materials in accordance with recognized archival best practices. The archivist will supervise and direct large scale digitization and processing of physical materials, primarily paper and image-based into a digital archive. Position Responsibilities: + Train and supervise archival staff + Review work products of staff for quality and accuracy + Compile detailed monthly and quarterly reports of activities + Oversee large-scale digitization of paper and image-based archival materials + Coordinate workflow in conjunction with Historian + Processing of original and record-copy archival materials including rehousing, minimal conservation, and preservation + Provide archival descriptions and occasionally cataloging of materials + Create item, folder, box, and series level inventories as appropriate + Create and update finding aids + Provide reference and users support services including creation of bibliographies + Provides support for research projects undertaken by the archives + General administrative responsibilities Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in history, museum studies or related field + Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, Archives + At least three years of experience in a professional archival setting performing all or most of the responsibilities for this position including records management, appraisal, processing, description, preservation, conservation, and digitization of analog and digital records + Able to lift 30-pound boxes of archival material Benefits + Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision) + Retirement Plan (401k, IRA) + Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D) + Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays) + Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity) + Short Term & Long Term Disability + Training & Development + Wellness Resources
